  • The successful candidate will be independent in project planning and design
  • Develop products and services in miRNA and stem cell areas.
To be successful in this role, you will have the following qualifications and experience:
  • Must have a Ph.D. degree in the life sciences within last 5 years
  • Eligible for Industrial R&D Fellowships Program (Canadian permanent residence or citizen is required)
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment
  • Excellent communicational skills
  • Strong publication record
  • Proficient technical skills in biological science

Senior Biological Technologist

(Open to Apply)

The successful candidate will utilize his or her significant biological expertise to develop novel genetic and cellular materials that will have immediate commercial application. With the completion of the Human Genome Project, development of efficient gene delivery systems will significantly contribute to the elucidation of gene function i.e. functional genomics.

The successful candidate will be recruited to be part of the team of developing efficient recombinant adenoviral vectors, retroviral vectors and lentiviral vectors. The successful candidate will also be trained in the area of recombinant DNA technologies, including DNA sub cloning, gel electrophoresis, transformation, ligation, as well as plasmid DNA purification. Ultimately, the successful candidate will be proficient in genetic engineering and the construction of recombinant viral vectors in clinical research involved in gathering and inputting data from patients.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following;

  • Routinely perform molecular biology techniques such as PCR, DNA mutagenesis, DNA sub cloning, protein/DNA electrophoresis, cell transformation, cell culture, and other more advanced methods in support of research projects.
  • Under guidance, perform experiments for pathway testing and optimization, including enzymatic assays and metabolite detection/quantification using HPLC and/or MS.
  • Analyze, summarize, and present experimental results to manager and other team members.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
