Business Development Assistant Internship

What you’ll do:
• Work with our associates to identify new lead opportunities
• Initiate contact with possible business/developer/collaboration opportunities through emailing, site visits and other methods of communication
• Make outbound calls to prospective customers
• Assist our associates to complete the sales cycle including: setting up sales presentation appointments, developing customized proposals, and completing contracts
• Work with our associates to analyze market trend and support corporate efforts to expand product portfolio
• Assist with administrative projects including mailings, maintain and grow prospect lists
• Possibility to participate in local and international trade shows and conferences
• Gain invaluable insight into the industry and business operations
Who you are:
• Completion of Science program—bonus if you’ve taken business courses
• Confident and articulate communicator – You are expected to do presentations and conference calls

Technical skills you have:

Cell culture Lab Technician Intern

Applied Biological Materials Inc. (abm) is an unique supplier of premium quality genetic and cellular materials, virus packaging, CRISPR/Cas9 stable cell line services, immortalization service and various other custom services. Recognized as the 25th Fastest-Growing Companies in B.C. in 2015, abm is rapidly expanding and we are offering a Cell Culture Lab Intern position for a reliable, motivated and detail-oriented individual. The successful candidate(s) will be part of the Cell Biology team to provide our customers with a complete line of viral packaging and stable cell line generation services. The successful candidate(s) will have plenty of opportunities for fast track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Perform sterile cell culture procedures associated with virus packaging following standard operating procedures
• Maintain and organize all production records/documents carefully and neatly in detail.
• Abide by high quality standards for all production processes,
• Assists in development & troubleshooting of new techniques and ideas.
• Good record of inventory and efficient communication with other departments
Qualifications : shortlisted candidates will have the following experience:
• A minimum of BSc in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biology.
• Must have previous experience in cell culture techniques
• Basic knowledge of gene delivery methods, viral life cycle, transfection, transduction, cell cycle, etc.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment.

Technical Consultant

In light of the need to expand its existing R&D portfolio, abm is currently looking for a Technical Consultant to join our team. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
•Communicate effectively with individuals/teams within the company to ensure high quality and timely expedition of customer requests.
•Help customers understand the applications of our products.
•Assist customers with solving their technical issues and providing technical support.
•Participate in activities and contribute ideas designed to improve customer satisfaction.
•Design custom services or identify the products that meet the customers' needs through discussions with the customer.
•Collaborate with internal teams on complex problems.
•Design solutions to problems that may be non-standard/unstructured and may require conceptual/creative thinking.
•Technical sales & upselling related tasks.
Qualifications
•Candidate must possess at least a PhD Degree in Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or a relevant Life Science degree.
•Working genetic engineering experience in an industrial setting is highly valued.
•Customer support skills would be an asset.
•Very strong analytical approach to troubleshooting
•Excellent communication skills
•Positive attitude and motivation to learn and take responsibility
•Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
•Job Training in areas related to life science and strong computer skills are a significant plus.
