Industrial Post-Doc: Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

In light of the need to expand its existing R&D portfolio, abm is currently looking for an Industrial Post-Doc to join our NGS team. The successful candidate(s) will have plenty of opportunities for fast track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists.
    We are looking for a talented and experienced Post-Doc Scientist that has a solid background in molecular biology, biochemistry, genetics or bioinformatics.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Utilize NGS techniques and methods to assist the senior scientists with on-going R&D projects and initiate new projects to further expand NGS services and products.
• Perform procedures associated with DNA and RNA sequencing on the Illumina sequencing platform; specifically, DNA/RNA library preparation, sample quantification & preparation, and sequencer operation.
• Maintain and organize all R&D records/documents carefully and neatly in detail.
• Perform bioinformatics analysis of conventional bulk and next-generation sequence data.
• Implement new next generation sequencing applications for DNA and RNA sequencing and provide feedback for their optimization and improvement.

Qualifications:
• Candidate must obtain a PhD degree during or after 2013, in a technical program of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Bioinformatics or closely related field.
• Strong candidates will have experience with NGS sequencing platforms (Illumina) and bioinformatics analysis tools.
• Ability to participate within a multifunctional team and assist other departments.
• Team player with excellent organization and analytical skills.
• Positive attitude and motivation to learn and take responsibility.
• Strong interpersonal skills with good written, oral communication and presentation skills

Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technician

    The successful candidate(s) will be part of the NGS team to provide our customers with a complete line of NGS related services. The successful candidate(s) will have plenty of opportunities for fast track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Qualifications:
• A minimum of BSc in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biology.
• Previous experience in PCR/qPCR for 4 months.
• Prior experience in working with RNA and/or DNA is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of NGS and bioinformatics is not required, but would be an asset.
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to troubleshoot.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, team environment.

Protein Research Scientist

In light of the need to expand its existing R&D portfolio, the Protein Science department at abm is currently looking for a protein scientist to join our team. The successful candidate(s) will have plenty of opportunities for fast track career development while being part of a highly diverse, innovative and interactive cohort of scientists.

    We are looking for a talented and experienced Protein Research Scientist that has a solid background in vector design, protein engineering, protein expression and purification. The ideal candidate would be familiar with various expression systems including bacterial, yeast, mammalian and/or insect cells. Experience with antibody development would be considered an asset. Fundamental scientific strengths in protein biochemistry, molecular biology and cell biology are required for this position.

To be successful in this role, the candidate will have the following qualifications:
• Candidate must possess a PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or closely related field OR Masters or postgraduate training in a technical program with 3+ years of relevant experience
• 3+ years of industrial experience are preferred
• Experience with antibody development considered an asset
• Experience with chemical formulation optimization as well as qPCR systems and applications
• Ability to participate within a multifunctional team and assist other departments
• Team player with excellent organization and analytical skills
