The Protocol You Trust — Now with Expanded Detection & Internal Control
Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit builds on the trusted Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit workflow with broader detection and a built-in internal control — without changing how you work.
Why We Developed Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit

abm’s Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G238) has supported routine screening in labs for years. As research workflows advanced, many users requested broader species detection and built-in reaction validation — but without extra steps or retraining.
Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G239) was created as the next step forward: an upgraded version of our proven kit that includes an internal control and expanded detection while keeping the same straightforward PCR protocol. By increasing confidence in screening results, it helps scientists identify contamination earlier and reduce the risk of wasted experiments and lost research time.
What’s New in Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit?
Everything you trust from our previous kit — plus added safeguards.
- Broader Mycoplasma and Acholeplasma species detection
- Built-in internal PCR control in every reaction
- Same straightforward workflow and turnaround time

Built-In Internal Control Confirms Every Reaction
Mycoplasma Pro contains an internal PCR control band (180 bp) that verifies reaction performance. This reduces the risk of false negatives caused by PCR inhibition or reaction failure, giving added confidence in routine screening.

Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit

Comparison of Mycoplasma PCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G238) to Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit (Cat. No. G239). More species of Mycoplasma and Acholesplasma can be detected with G239 as seen in lanes 3 and 6. G239 contains an internal PCR control band (180 bp) which demonstrates functionality of the reaction.
Broader Detection Without a New Workflow

Mycoplasma Pro expands detection to include additional Mycoplasma and Acholeplasma species, offering a wider safety net for routine cell culture screening — while keeping the same PCR process you already use.
Seamless Transition to an Upgraded Kit
Switching to the upgraded kit does not require retraining or protocol adjustments. PCR setup, cycling conditions, and gel analysis remain consistent, allowing labs to adopt to the upgraded kit as their new routine screening kit with minimal disruption.
Same steps. Same protocol. Expanded protection.
Who Is Upgrading?
Labs who typically:
- Perform regular routine mycoplasma screening
- Want broader contamination detection
- Prefer built-in reaction validation
- Need added confidence without workflow changes
If G238 is already part of your QC routine, G239 offers a seamless next step.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do I need to change my protocol?
No. G239 follows the same PCR workflow used with G238.
Q: Is G238 still available?
Yes. G238 remains available, while G239 offers expanded detection and internal control for labs seeking an upgrade.
Q: Can G239 be used for routine screening?
Yes. Many labs adopt G239 as their primary routine mycoplasma detection kit.
Q: Does G239 require new equipment?
No. The assay uses standard PCR and gel electrophoresis equipment.
Supporting Data

abm's Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit (G239) is sensitive and can detect as low as 10 genome copies. PCR assay with 10-fold serial dilutions of Mycoplasma Positive Control Plasmid shows that our kit can detect as low as 10 copies. Positive internal PCR control (180 bp band) is present in all lanes including NTC and demonstrates functionality of the reaction and absence of false negatives.

abm's modified G239 Pro Primer Mix allows for detection of additional Mycoplasma and Acholeplasma strains. Stringent cycling conditions paired with optimally designed Pro Primers allows for detection of additional species.

abm's Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit (G239) is compatible with cell culture media. Supernatants of cells grown in common basal media and commonly used sera were tested. PCR assay using Mycoplasma Pro PCR Detection Kit showed no inhibition from media components as the positive internal PCR control (180 bp band) is present in all lanes.
