| Description |
SafeViewER™ Imager: Your Dream Gel Documentation System A must-have piece of equipment that is completely free from carcinogenic dyes and UV light! Here are a few reasons why to upgrade to the SafeViewER™ Imager:
Upgrade to the SafeViewER™ Imager and experience the future of gel documentation!
Compatible DNA Stains:
SafeView™ Classic has increased sensitivity compared to Ethidium Bromide: Decreasing amounts of DNA Ladder were loaded on a gel with SafeView™ Classic (Cat. No. G108) or Ethidium Bromide and visualized with the SafeViewER™ Imager.
Dual Functionality, Compact Design: The SafeViewER™ Imager can be used for both analytical and preparative agarose gels, saving money and bench space. |

| Is the SafeViewER Imager compatible with my existing DNA stains or do I have to switch to abm's dyes? | |
The SafeViewER Imager is specifically optimized for use with abm's SafeView™ line of non-carcinogenic dyes (e.g., SafeView™ Classic, Safe-Green™, Safe-Red™ Gel). While some other fluorescent dyes might work, maximum sensitivity and performance are achieved using abm’s dyes, as the system’s LED excitation and filters are designed for their specific emission spectra.
| Can I still image my gels without using UV light? | |
Yes! The SafeViewER Imager is designed to eliminate the need for UV light entirely. It uses safe blue or green LED light sources that effectively excite compatible fluorescent dyes. This protects both the user and the integrity of nucleic acids from UV-induced damage.
| How sensitive is the system? Will it detect faint bands? | |
The SafeViewER Imager is highly sensitive—when used with SafeView™ dyes, it can detect as little as 0.06–0.3 ng of DNA per band, depending on the dye. This is often more sensitive than traditional ethidium bromide methods and allows clear detection of low-abundance nucleic acid samples.
| Do I need special software or training to use this imager? | |
No, the SafeViewER Imager comes with intuitive, user-friendly software that requires minimal training. It supports quick image capture, easy gel documentation, and basic editing functions. Most users are up and running with it in minutes.
| Is this system suitable for both gel documentation and gel excision? | |
Yes. The SafeViewER Imager supports both analytical (documentation) and preparative (gel excision) workflows. Its LED lighting system is safe for viewing and cutting out DNA/RNA bands without degrading the nucleic acids, making it ideal for downstream applications like cloning or sequencing.
