Description

DMEM, or Dulbecco's Modified Eagle Medium, is basal medium widely used for the growth of many mammalian cells, such as primary fibroblasts, neurons, glial cells, HUVECs, smooth muscle cells, HeLa, 293, Cos-7, and PC-12 cell lines. This formulation contains low glucose. Supplementation is required, most commonly with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS) for cell culture use, and requires a 5-10% CO2 environment to maintain physiological pH.

DMEM is modified as follows:

• Low Glucose (1.0 g/L)
• L-Glutamine
• Sodium Pyruvate
• Sodium Bicarbonate (3.7 g/L)
• Phenol Red

Without
• HEPES
