| Name | Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit |
| Unit | 100 Preparations |
| Description |
abm’s Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit is a quick and versatile system for the isolation and purification of DNA. This two-in-one kit can be used to purify DNA following PCR amplification and agarose gel isolation. The silica spin column technology allows for rapid recovery of high quality DNA samples that are ready for downstream applications such as PCR, restriction digest, cloning and sequencing. Datasheet
| Can I use water to elute the DNA? | |
Yes, water can be used to elute DNA from the spin columns. For best results, ensure the water is nuclease-free and the pH is between 7-8.5. We recommend eluting with the provided Elution Buffer if you intend to store the DNA long term. This is because the buffer contains EDTA which can help inhibit metal-dependent nucleases.
| What type of agarose gels is the Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit compatible with? | |
0.8-2% agarose gels are readily compatible. Higher concentration agarose gels may result in reduced recovery rates.
| What sizes of DNA fragments can be purified with the Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit? | |
50 bp - 10 kb DNA fragments can be purified.
| Can the Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit be used to remove primers, nucleotides, or enzymes? | |
Yes, the Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit is specifically designed to remove these small contaminants from your DNA sample. |
| What elution volumes are recommended for the Column-Pure Gel and PCR Clean-Up Kit? | |
We recommend using 30-50 µl volumes. Lower volumes can be used to increase sample concentration, however sample yield will be decreased due to inadequate wetting of the silica membrane.
| What type of device or imaging system can I use when performing gel extraction? | |
We recommend using abm’s SafeViewER™ Imager (Cat. No. E1001) which is compatible with gel extraction workflows.
