Name Recombinant Human Follistatin (FST)
Description Expressed in the pituitary, ovaries, and in some other tissues, FST is a high affinity activin binding protein that can act as an activin antagonist. FST was originally discovered through its suppressive effect of the expression and secretion of the pituitary follicle stimulating hormone. Besides activin, FS has also been shown to bind with multiple BMPs, Myostatin, GDF-11, and TGF-beta-1. Human Follistatin contains three cysteine-rich domains (called Follistatin-like domains), 3 Kazal-like domains and one TGF-beta binding domain.

Formulation Recombinant Human Follistatin was lyophilized at 1.0 mg/mL containing no additives.
Function The ED(50) was determined by the ability to neutralize Activin A inhibitory effect of mouse MPC-11 cells and was determined to be 0.1-0.4 µg/mL in the presence of 7.5 ng/mL Activin A.
Reconstitution A quick spin of the vial followed by reconstitution in distilled water to a concentration not less than 0.1 mg/mL. This solution can then be diluted into other buffers.
Shipping Conditions This lyophilized protein is shipped at ambient temperature. Cold packs may be used if transit temperatures are elevated. The product remains stable during normal shipping conditions.
Storage Upon receipt, store lyophilized protein at –70°C for long-term storage. Short-term storage at –20°C is acceptable if necessary. Once reconstituted, store at 2–8°C for up to 1 month, or at –20°C for up to 6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Usage For research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
