Name Recombinant Human Galectin-3 (LGALS3) (E. coli)
Description Gal-3 interacts, via its lectin domain, with glycoproteins and glycolipids on the surface of animal cells. It has been shown that nuclear Gal3 can modulate gene expression while cytosolic Gal3 can inhibit apoptosis and participate in exocytosis. Gal-3 is generally expressed by the epithelial cells of many tissues as well as by inflammatory cells. An increased level of Gal-3 expression may lead to some lymphomas, as well as thyroid and hepatic carcinomas while the down-regulation has been associated with breast and colon cancer.
Organism Human (H. sapiens)
Unit quantity 50 µg
Family Other Growth Factors/Cytokines
Aliases IgE-Binding Protein, Gal-3, 35 kDa lectin, Carbohydrate-binding protein 35, CBP 35, Galactose-specific lectin 3, Galactoside-binding protein, GALBP, L-31, Laminin-binding protein, Lectin L-29, Mac-2 antigen
Gene Symbol LGALS3
Gene ID 3958
Accession Number P17931
Source E. coli
Species Human (H. sapiens)
Appearance Lyophilized Powder
Molecular Weight 26.1 kDa
Endotoxin Level < 1.0 EU/µg of recombinant protein as determined by the LAL method.
Purity >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE
Formulation Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS.
Function Measured by its ability to agglutinate human red blood cells. The ED(50) for this effect is typically 3-10 µg/mL.
Reconstitution Reconstitute at 50 μg/mL in sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin
Storage The lyophilized protein is stable for at least one year from date of receipt at -70°C. Upon reconstitution, this cytokine can be stored in working aliquots at 2° - 8°C for one month, or at -20°C for six months, with a carrier protein without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Usage For research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic use.
